Moxin is a penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including those affecting the throat, ear, nasal sinuses, respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, as well as typhoid fever. It is also used to prevent heart valve infections (bacterial endocarditis) in people with pre-existing heart disease and to help eliminate H. pylori in people with peptic ulcer disease.
Moxin works by inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.
